National Central Library Collaborates with San José Public Library to Set up Taiwan Corner with Taiwan Publications

In order to strengthen cooperation with libraries in different countries and to broaden scopes of international exchanges, on September 23, 2022, Director-General Shu-hsien Tseng of the National Central Library went to the San Jose Public Library in the US to set up Taiwan Corner with Taiwan publications. On behalf of Ms. Jill Bourne, Director of the San Jose Public Library, Ms. Dziem Nguyen expressed her gratitude for the donation of books to increase the richness of their library’s collection, and both parties looked forward to more cooperation and exchanges between the two libraries in the future. Director-General Tseng donated exquisite children’s books and books on the art, architecture, geography and customs, all published in Taiwan. The books are displayed on a thick cardboard bookshelf with notable signage “Taiwan Corner,” which can be used as an exhibition for readers. It can also be circulated and exhibited in different branch libraries. The representative of San Jose Public Library expressed their thanks to the National Central Library and mentioned that the city is comprised of multi-ethnic peoples, with the multicultural characteristics of their users, they warmly welcomed the National Central Library’s Chinese books to enrich their collection and to provide their readers with the latest Taiwan publications. On the occasion of this book donation and visit to the San José Public Library, Director Huiyi Zhou and team leader Meihui Xiao of the Education Division from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in San Francisco, accompanied and to assist when necessary during the library tour. Continuous exchange of librarianship experiences and sharing of resources and expertise are hoped by both libraries. This is indeed a rewarding event for both parties.
