The French Town of Levallois-Perret has established a Taiwan Corner of donated books in their city in collaboration with National Central Library. Following this collaboration, Levallois-Perret Mayor Agnes Pottier-Dumas and City Hall Office Director Florian Guidat paid a visit to the main branch of National Central Library and NCL’s OPEN LAB, accompanied by Secretary Lih-tien Hsu of the Department of International and Cross-strait Education, and personally welcomed by NCL Director-General Dr. Han-ching Wang on the morning of April 16th, 2025.
Levallois-Perret is a prospering town in the Île-de-France Hauts-de-Seine region of France near Paris. During the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics, Levallois-Perret provided free spaces for Taiwan’s athletes to train, providing a great deal of labor and material assistance to those athletes, therefore making an outstanding contribution to the impressive performance of Taiwan’s athletes.
For Mayor Pottier-Dumas and NCL Director-General Wang to meet once again at NCL is richly meaningful. Therefore, in addition to visiting NCL to learn about the interior design in several newly renovated spaces, NCL’s innovative services, and collection of ancient texts, the honored guests also visited NCL’s OPEN LAB, to learn about French-language learning and collections of French cultural comics and picture books. They also tried their hands at heat transfer printing on coffee mugs. Mayor Pottier-Dumas and Director Guidat were deeply impressed by NCL’s commitment to academic research, the providing of reading and research spaces, as well as reader services.
