NCL Attends 2015 AAS Book Exhibition
NCL Attends 2015 AAS Book Exhibition

The NCL, together with the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange, attended the Association for Asian Studies (AAS)’ 67th Annual Meeting held in Chicago on March 26-29. They displayed books and CDs (474 titles, 524 volumes) on Chinese and Taiwanese studies published in the last three years to help scholars throughout Asia better understand the achievements and current publications of scholars in Taiwan. The Exhibition also aims to increase international scholarly cooperation and improve cultural exchange and recognition. Academia Sinica’s Institute of History and Philology, as well as its Digital Center, and the Tang Prize Foundation also participated in the Book Exhibition.

Books displayed by the NCL this time were available for the more than 1000 scholars in attendance to peruse and order. After the exhibition, they were donated to the East Asian Library of the University of Chicago to enrich their Chinese studies resources. Books displayed by Academia Sinica’s Institute of History and Philology and the Tang Prize Foundation were also included in the donation. Executive Director Chu Yun-han represented the NCL in donating the books to Donald Harper, director of the East Asian Research Center, University of Chicago.

It is worth mentioning that beginning in 2014, the AAS has added an AAS-in-Asia annual meeting held during the summer. This year it will be held on June 22-24 in Taiwan. The conference will be hosted by Academia Sinica. This will encourage many American scholars to come to Taiwan, thus increasing scholarly exchange on Asian studies between East and West. Publications by the NCL and the CCS will also be on display.
