NCL General-Director Tseng signed a MOU on the Union Catalog of Rare Chinese Books on May 6 with Prof. dr. hab. Jolanta Sierakowska-Dyndo, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw in Poland. This is the 69th organization to join the Union Catalog of Rare Chinese Books that NCL created.
The University of Warsaw (UM) was founded 200 years ago and has enjoyed close interactions with scholars from Taiwan during its history. Its Faculty of Oriental Studies is an important teaching and research institution of Chinese studies in Poland and has many ancient Chinese books. The signing of this MOU will augment academic discussion between UW and Taiwan, providing more abundant resources for students and faculty of Chinese studies. After the signing ceremony concluded, General-Director Tseng and those traveling with her toured the UW library and its world-famous roof garden. Many aspects of the tour left a deep impression on the group, and certain parts of the library's "green" design are going to be incorporated in to a new design underway for the NCL.
