2017 Center for Chinese Studies Visiting Scholars New Year Celebration Party
2017 Center for Chinese Studies Visiting Scholars New Year Celebration Party

On February 13, the Center for Chinese Studies held a New Year Celebration Party for its visiting foreign scholars. All current recipients of the Center’s Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese Studies and the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowship were invited to attend. In all there were 39 scholars and their families from 23 different countries.

National Central Library Director-General Tseng and Deputy Director of the MOFA’s Department of Policy Planning Kuo-ting Tan both gave welcoming remarks at the beginning of the celebration. The lunch was a traditional Taiwanese banzhuo style. Throughout the afternoon, the visiting scholars introduced themselves to the group, a New Year’s drawing was held, and scholars shared their artistic talents. And while the merry festivities ended, it was a wonderful beginning to these scholars’ time in Taiwan.
