The NCL Attends the “International Conference on the Cyberinfrastructure for Historical China Studies”

RenownedHarvard professor Peter K. Bol invited more than 100 sinologists, library studies scholars, anddatabase architects to gather at the “International Conference on theCyberinfrastructure for Historical China Studies” at Harvard Shanghai Centerfrom March 14-16, 2018. NCL Editors Chuang Hui-ju and Wei Chia-hui , and Assistant Editor WangHung-te attended the conference. They introducedvarious NCL systems delivering digital content to the conference, including theContemporary Celebrities’ Manuscripts, Digital HumanitiesPlatform for Chinese Ancient Books, E-Publication Platform, and NationalDigital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan.

The aim of this conference was to definethe types of facilities needed to establish acyberinfrastructure for Chinese studies research.Through sharing information about their individualestablished cyberinfrastructures, conferenceattendees could also participate in interdisciplinarydiscussions, gain understanding of the tools neededfor digitizing different types of text, and share thelatest technological and systemic developments fortheir platforms.
