The NCL Attends the 2018 Annual Conference of the Association for Asia Studies

The Association for Asian Studies (AAS)annual conference took place from March 22-25, 2018, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel inWashington D.C. The National Central Library’sCenter for Chinese Studies (CCS) attended thisyear’s conference. From March 23-25, the Centercooperated with Chiang Ching-kuo Foundationfor International Scholarly Exchange (CCKF) toparticipate in a book exhibition at the conference,exhibiting over 300 of the best Chinese and TaiwanStudies related humanities and social scienceresearch publications published in Taiwan in thelast three years. At the end of the conference, allthe publications were donated to the University ofNorth Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Davis Library, toadd to its East Asian Collection. A ceremony tomark the donation was held on March 23.

More than 3,000 attendees have joined at thisyear’s annual conference. There were over 443symposia and lectures, attended by Asia researchersand library staff from American universities, andalso Asian studies scholars and representatives ofpublishing houses from around the world. It washoped that the book exhibition would help theinternational scholarly community better understandthe current state of Chinese Studies research carriedout in Taiwan, strengthen academic collaborationsand exchange programs, and at the same timeinform overseas scholars as to how to purchase suchbooks.
