A Special Exhibition on the 100th Anniversary of Czechoslovakia Opens at the NCL

The National Central Library (NCL) partnered with the Czech Economic and Cultural Office Taipei and the Slovak Economic and Cultural Office Taipei to jointly hold a Special Exhibition on the 100th Anniversary of Czechoslovakia, displayed in the lobby outside the briefing room at the NCL in Taipei from June 1-24, 2018. The opening ceremony for the exhibition took place on June 1 and was co-hosted by NCL Director-General Tseng together with representatives from the Economic and Cultural Offices of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. 

2018 marks the centenary ofCzechoslovakia’s foundation at the end of the First World War. Through valuablepictures and documents, the exhibition charts the development of the Czech andSlovak people’s plans for founding a new country together. It describesCzechoslovakia’s society, diplomatic relations, and contribution to the globalmarketplace since the nation’s foundation.

Although Czechoslovakia split intothe Czech and Slovak Republics in 1993, the two countries’ Economic and CulturalOffices worked together on planning and preparing this exhibition, whichenabled the people of Taiwan to gain a deep understanding the century ofCzechoslovakia’s history.
