[ Current Chinese Publications ]        

● About the Collection 

Books shelved at this section were mainly published within recent 5 years. Users are allowed to browse and use the books freely at this section. Books published in earlier years are kept in closed stacks. For closed stacks books, users need to do online retrieval request on the NCL Online Catalog. Users will be asked to enter the identical E-mail and birth date as used to apply for the NCL Library Card. After online retrieval request has been done, 20 minutes there after the requested books will be available at the Circulation Desk (General Information Service Counter). Users should return the requested books to the General Information and Circulation Counter when he/ she has done using the books. Books in this open-shelf section are arranged according to Chinese Classification System. There are 10 major classes in this classification system and major classes are represented by 3 digits. 

● Services and Facilities 

In this New Chinese Publications Section,there are 32 workstations for conducting online searches for the NCL library holdings, online retrieval requests, and for searching in the databases either constructed or subscribed by the NCL. There are 10 copy machines facilitated in the nearby copy room. When make copies, users need to be aware of and conscientiously follow the Copyright Regulations and Terms. Available seats in this section: 156.

[ Theses and Dissertations ] 

● About the Collection 

This collection area is located at 2nd floor,shelves master theses deposited by universities and colleges of Taiwan. Due to space limitation, only the theses deposited in recent 3 years are displayed in this open-shelf area. Dissertations and more dated theses are housed in closed repository. Such closed repository materials can be retrieved by doing online retrieval request on the NCL Online Catalog. Please refer to Request for Needed Materials. 

● Services and Facilities 

In this Theses Collection area, there are 22 workstations and 1 printer equipped for conducting online searches for the NCL library holdings, and for searching in the theses and dissertations database system (entitled National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations inTaiwan, abbreviated as NDLTD-Taiwan). Users can print out needed pages of released theses/ dissertations. There are 8 copy machines facilitated in the nearby copy room. When make copies, users need to be aware of and conscientiously follow the Copyright Regulations and Terms. Available seats in this section: 60.

 [ Reference Books and Reference Services ] 

 ● About Reference Services Area 

In the open-shelf Reference Collections area,users can access to Chinese and Western-language reference tools, either general or academic in nature, including the following types of reference tools: catalog, index, dictionary, encyclopedia, handbook, yearbook, directory,pamphlets, subject-oriented bibliography, etc. Besides, there are two special sub-sections in this area: One is for Western-language and Chinese important series. Highlights of such series include the “Complete Library of the Four Treasuries” (四庫全書), the various versions of “Buddhist Canon” (大藏經), gazetteers of provinces of China, etc. Another special sub-section is for maps and atlas. Users can find tourist maps, road maps, topographic maps, aerial photographic maps, etc. from this area.Chinese materials in this area are cataloged and shelved according to Chinese Classification System, and Western-language materials are cataloged and shelved according to Library of Congress Subject Headings.

● Services and Facilities 

The Reference Collections area is located at 2nd floor of the library. Users can enjoy free searches and wireless networking activities here. Services provided by the reference team include reference service, database search, instructional courses, and inter-library loanservices, etc. Available seats in this area: 138
