In order to efficiently collect and disseminate important national publications, the NCL has been digitizing for public access many of the resources in its collection, including dissertation papers, Chinese periodicals, newspapers, local gazettes, central government reports, statistical surveys, reports by government officials returned from overseas assignments, and rate books. In February 1998, the library launched the READncl system, providing an online portal for searching, viewing and printing these e-documents. READncl users can also request materials to be sent to them by fax or post. The library also recently launched the "Taiwan Memory", "Taiwan Info," and other online resources to further realize its goal of developing an e-library system.
