The NCL is responsible for library research development and assistance in Taiwan . The library has drafted and revised various standards and regulations as references for other libraries. It continues to strengthen the functions of the National Bibliographic Information Network (NBINet) as a mechanism for joint cataloging and creation of a national bibliography. The NCL also promotes cooperative acquisitions among libraries to reduce the costs of collection building, especially for expensive databases and foreign periodicals.
