In 2024, the 8th Seminar “Acquisitions of Taiwan Publications and Digital Research Resources,” will be opened to foreign librarians and researchers with procurement needs for Taiwanese published books and digital resources. The goal of this international seminar is to help East Asian Library professional librarians learn about various channels for obtaining Taiwanese academic resources, including books, audiovisual media, and digital databases. By bringing together experts from Taiwan publishing industry, the event aims to give librarians deeper insight into acquiring Chinese language materials to support research at their institutions. The seminar is timed to coincide with the 2024 Taipei Book Exhibition to provide opportunities to understand the latest trends and build a strong knowledge base for facilitating academic research through acquisitions in the future.

The topics of this year's Seminar include:

- To enhance acquisition of Chinese e-books, audiobooks, digital audiovisual resources, and Taiwan academic databases.

- To master information on Taiwan publications and establish high-quality acquisition channels and cataloging value-added services.

- To give an overview of the digital research resources available from National Central Library and other major institutions in Taiwan.

- How to utilize NBINet to improve efficiency of publications acquisition.

Lectures of this 2024 international Seminar will be covering useful issues to make Taiwan's publishing and database offerings more accessible. The NCL will invite several experts and scholars from Taiwan's publishing industry and academic institutions to share their insights as guest lecturers. Overall, it's an event to open up Taiwan's wealth of academic publishing information and research databases to more libraries globally through helpful lectures from top Taiwan experts, wishing to enhance librarians and library practitioners' capabilities and facilitate their knowledge exchanges.

Our National Central Library warmly welcomes your participation!
