On the afternoon of September 14, 2023, Library and Information Science experts and scholars from the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies at Seoul National University visited our National Central Library for an exchange. The 10-person visiting team consisted of Professor Changsook Lee, the Director of the Kyujanggak Research Center at Seoul National University, Professor Jinho Lee, the Head of the Collection Management Department, Professor Inho Cho, the Head of the Conservation Science Department, Restoration Expert Ms. Hyeyun Lee, Researcher Ms. Heekyung Kim, and four members responsible for the institution's collections: Mr. Wonchan Kim, Ms. Cheonjeong Park, Mr. Seongho Yoon, and Mr. Gwanghui Lee.
Our NCL Director-General Dr. Shu-hsien Tseng, along with some colleagues from the Special Collections Division and International Cooperation Division, first engaged in in-depth discussions with the visiting experts and scholars regarding our institution's ancient book and document preservation techniques and management. We provided an overview of our NCL's ancient book and painting collections preservation, collection restoration and maintenance techniques, as well as our achievements in digitization and value-added services.
Following the exchange, our colleagues from the Special Collections Division and International Cooperation Division accompanied the visiting team on a tour of our institution, visiting the special exhibition "Exploring boundaries through reading: special exhibition on rare books of National central library, Taiwan," as well as the Rare Book Room, Special Collections Storage, and Restoration Room, where they had the opportunity to view numerous national treasures of ancient books.
