NCL and University of Leipzig co-host “Taiwan Lectures on Chinese Studies”

The NCL and the Leipzig University, Department of East Asian Studies co-organized “Taiwan Lectures on Chinese Studies” on June 22. Professor Paul R. Katz, a Research Fellow from the Academia Sinica Institute of Modern History was invited to deliver a speech on “An Unbreakable Thread? Preliminary Observations on Cross-Strait Religious Interaction during the Modern Era" to explore the various factors that led to religious interaction from both sides of the Strait since the 1980s as well as Cross Strait concrete situation of religious relation. Many teachers and students participated. It also attracted many Western Chinese Studies scholars. Among them were Professor Adam Yuet Chau from the University of Cambridge and Professor Robert Campany from Vanderbilt University, USA. Martin Hofmann, Andreas Berndt former CSS scholars from Leipzig University and many others were also present.
