The 2012 Winter Season “Exhibition of Reading the Western by Way of Audiovisual Materials” for Greeting Hope and Brightness

Begetting in spring, growing in summer, harvesting in autumn, and preserving in winter, now it’s time when the season has changed itself to winter while pine and cedar can stand the cold, and plum are in full bloom. In this season of keeping yourself in good health and preserving your energy for later use, National Central Library has prepared for you “The 2012 Reading Together with National Central Library – Winter has Come, Spring is Not Far Behind – Reading the Western by Way of Audiovisual Materials Exhibition” for greeting the hope and brightness of next year. The contents of “Exhibition of Reading the Western by Way of Audiovisual Materials” consist of the popular “A Tale of Two Cities” and “A Christmas Carol” by the British Charles Dickens; “Le Petit Chaperon Rouge” and “Cinderella,” the fairy tale by the French Charles Perrault; “The Strange” by the Nobel literature laureate Albert Camus; “Les Miserables” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” by Victor Hugo; “Faust” by the German great writer Johann von Goethe; “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by the American Nobel literature award winner Ernest Hemingway; “Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain; as well as “Othello” and “Macbeth,” the classics of William Shakespeare, etc. Western classics written in different ages are displaying together in one room and masterpieces with various literary styles are demonstrating their excellent writing skills. Readers are all welcome and take a glance at the mystery of Western literature. After readers listening to a serial lecture of wonderful “Winter has Come, Spring is Not Far Behind – Reading the Western Literature” activity from November 10, 2012 to January 26. 2013 at National Central Library, they are all welcome to take a walk to NCL Arts and Audiovisual Center (located at 156, Yanping South Road, opening from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, except close on Monday and national holidays) for a sitting on the comfortable sofa, entering the world of Western literature, and enjoying the way you will spend in the winter that is full of hope.
