National Central Library initiated a four-year Project for the Resource Integration and Development of Public Libraries (2013-2016) entrusted by the Ministry of Education. Four regional and eight district resource centers were established in northern, central, southern, and eastern Taiwan. Currently holdings are comprised of over 270,000 volumes. Since the resource centers have been opened, over 630,000 volumes have been borrowed. At present, over 672 reading promotion events have been held, with a total of 172,594 attending. Therefore, Ministry of Education held a press conference to showcase the achievement of the public library regional resource center on December 21th, 2015. Hopefully more people will go to the centers to use of resource center resources, increasing interest in reading and competitive advantage.
