On the 10th of December, Director General Tseng visited Leuven Public Library (French: Bibliotheek Tweebronnen, BT). She visited the audiovisual area, reading rooms, children's area and other facilities, as well as children's books illustrators’ exhibition.
The Library is designed in a white tone base giving a bright lighting effect, a simple and clean spacious design, offering readers a sense of a vast and comfortable visual space. The children's area employs colorful colors of red and green creating a lively atmosphere.
Currently, the BT Children's area is holding a children's books illustrators’ exhibition. Its main purpose is that through the display of the illustrators’ use of relevant materials, manuscripts, copies and other details in the process of creating their works, the children and parents may get to know the authors’ works, the authors themselves, thereby raising interest in reading.
Before the actual viewing of some films, the said Library (BT) holds an exhibition of materials related to the film. On the day the film is released, collectors are invited to have a dialogue with readers.
Due to the fact that next week, Belgium will release the movie, Star Wars, its artifacts are now being exhibited.<
The current exhibition expenses are provided by the Star Wars Fan Club, the BT has only to assume insurance expenses. This practice not only enhances the promotion of the community participation in librarianship, improving library utilization of readers, it can also help to save in operating expenses, create news topics, so that more people become aware of the new features of the library. This practice is worth learning and is a good reference for libraries in our country.
