[Matteo Ricci & Pacific Studies Reading Room ]
● About the collection
In April 2010, NCL has established the MatteoRicci & Pacific Studies Reading Room on the 6th floor. The Taipei Ricci Institute long-term deposits about 50,000 volume collection of books to the Library. The books, chiefly in Chinese, English, and French, focus mainly on linguistics, philosophy, and social sciences. Besides housing the Ricci Institute’s books and periodicals, there are also those relating to the Societyof Jusus, Matteo Ricci, East-West cultural exchange, and international sinological research, also in several languages. Additionally, a future direction for development of this reading room will be to build up a collection relating to the field of Pacific Studies.More than 30,000 books are on display in the reading room. There are 28 available seats, two computers for the users to conduct online retrieval, and a printer/copy machine.

● About the collection
The Center for Chinese Studies Reading Room is located on the 6th floor of the National Central Library. This area holds books and periodicals on sinology from around the world, photocopies of ancient Chinese books extant abroad, doctoral dissertations related to sinology from universities in Europe and the Americas, and publications of mainland China and foreign countries. In the open shelves area, readers can access to publications on recent political and economic affairs, laws, and other information on mainland China, as well as reports and periodicals.
● Services
During opening hours, staff is on duty to answer questions, and computers are available for conducting online searches in databases, indices, and bibliographies. In this reading room, two copy machines, one printer, and one scanner are available for use. Besides, there are eight study carrels available for overseas scholars to do researches at the Center. Available seats: 48.
